Dichpally Ramalayam

Dichpally Ramalayam, also known as Khilla Ramalayam, is one of the most famous historical temples in Nizamabad district, Telangana. Dedicated to Lord Rama, the temple was constructed by the Kakatiya rulers during the 13th–14th century and is regarded as one of the finest examples of ancient stone architecture in the region.

The temple is built using black and white basalt stone and is renowned for its intricate carvings, artistic pillars, beautifully sculpted walls, and detailed door frames. Due to its remarkable stone sculptures and architectural resemblance to the temples of Khajuraho, it is often referred to as the “Khajuraho of Telangana” or “Indhoor Khajuraho.”

The temple is situated on a hill and visitors reach the main shrine by climbing 105 stone steps. A beautifully carved Keerthi Thorana (ornamental gateway) welcomes devotees at the entrance. During the monsoon season, the surrounding area fills with water, giving the temple the appearance of an island.

Dichpally Ramalayam attracts thousands of devotees and tourists every year, especially during Sri Rama Navami celebrations. Its historical significance, spiritual atmosphere, and magnificent Kakatiya-era architecture make it one of the most important heritage temples in Nizamabad district.
